This Vax blade 24v cordless vacuum cleaner is surprisingly very good . Picks up dirt that you can’t even see . Yes It’s not as good as the leading corded vacuums but it’s as powerful as a standard corded vacuum . It does the job with some battery life to spare . Design and Features
The design of the Vax Blade is very similar to Dyson’s cordless range. The entire vacuum is effectively a handheld that can be used as an upright with the help of an attachment.
The vacuum itself looks quite stylish. There is a handy battery indicator on the top of the device to show you how much battery is left, whether the powered brush bar is spinning and whether the device is in ‘boost mode’.
Many believe this new design is the future of vacuuming. Many households currently have an upright and a handheld, so if the two can be combined into one then the cost of purchase will be slashed.
Boost mode is there the motor works extra hard. Putting the motor under this extra load does work well in picking up stubborn dirt from carpets, but it also saps the battery very quickly.
Weight
Weighing in at just 2KG the Vax Blade is one of the lightest in its category. When you look at the device carefully you can see that Vax engineers have worked very hard to make sure this weight is kept to a minimum.
Fortunately, we were pleasantly surprised. There are plastic parts, but they don’t seem to be on parts that are likely to break easily. Hats off to Vax on this one, they have managed to keep a solid product.
Usually when weight is shed it can often lead to a lack of quality – normally it is plastic parts instead of metal wherever possible. This makes little difference to the aesthetics, but quite a big difference to the longevity of the device, as well as the feel of quality you get from a solid product. Because of all this we all had preconceptions about the Vax Blade before we used it and expected that cheap feel.
Battery Life
The advertising battery live of the Vax Blade is 35 minutes from a 5 hour charge time. In our tests we got ever so slightly less than this, but there are a lot of things that can effect battery life (temperature, for example) so we’re confident the advertised battery life is correct.
One thing to note is that with boost mode on you’ll get nowhere near the 35 minute run time. This isn’t a surprise – boost mode is designed for short bursts to get something troublesome out of your carpets, so you aren’t expected to leave it on for more than a few seconds.
All in all, the battery fairs well. Throughout this review we have compared the Vax Blade against the Dyson V6 and V8 range of cordless vacuums, which may or may not be fair given the price difference. However, the Vax wins in terms of battery life.
There is also a 32V edition of the Vax Blade that has a 45 minute runtime. Very impressive.
Manoeuvrability
Due to the fact the Vax Blade is actually a handheld with an upright extension it is, by its very nature, extremely manoeuvrable.
Notice how easily the Vax moves across surfaces. In our tests this did perform in the same way.
The neck of the Blade pivots too. On the video, where the stairs are being cleaned, you may notice the way it drops down in a fluid motion to give the head the ability to clean more easily.
The clear benefit though is the ability to move the vacuum wherever you need to. It’s cordless, so that’s one big movement issue removed. Beyond that you can also see how you can easily clean all corners of a room – not sure the floors, but the ceiling corners too.

Most important of all cordless vacuums is performance. Our tests with the Blade included picking up various amounts of debris from lots of different types of surfaces in order to ascertain how suitable it is for all of the different environments our homes have.
Vax claims that the Blade cordless delivers “performance as good as an upright”. This claim comes from what Vax are calling “DIRECT HELIX TECHNOLOGY”. Well that all sounds very high-tech, but how did it actually perform?
Our initial tests were positive. Suction was good and there was very little let up from the vacuum across the various surfaces and debris that we were working with.
There were several tests that we run that the Vax did struggle with slightly, mostly ones with troublesome substances on difficult materials; very close to a thick layer of pet hair in a high-pile rug or carpet. However, the Vax Blade has a ‘Boost mode’, which is a temporary mode you can pop the vacuum into to increase suction and speed up the powered brush bar. There are quite a few different vacuums on the market that have a Boost mode, but we were really impressed with Vax’s and it made light work of the various troublesome tests.

Convenience at last & no plug/cord to think about!
Love the convenience of just cleaning the well-used areas 3/4 times a week & then a good clean weekly.
So easy to use, I always switch off the power-boost button immediately after switching on (it comes on automatically) this way I save battery-use, of course if I have an area where it’s needed then so simple
to just switch it on then off immediately after I’ve finished.
I have the ‘hook’ screwed to the wall in the ‘utility’ so o/o sight + only need to fully-charge once per week.I’ve made a habit of emptying/cleaning head/bristles, every 3/4 wks – there are only 2 of us & no animals.
All in all I thoroughly recommend this Vax-cleaner for me it’s a very helpful ‘friend’

The Vax Blade 2 Max is cordless vacuuming that won’t cost you the earth – but is more than capable than cleaning it up off the floor. This new iteration on Vax’s previous cordless vacuum triples the suction power and makes a clear assault on Dyson’s number one spot in the market, even if it doesn’t take the crown.
At just over half the price of the Dyson Cyclone V10 Absolute, it sharply undercuts much of the competition while retaining strong suction and a smart, modular design that will let you clasp together longer sticks or shorter heads to best suit the room or surface you’re cleaning. The joints can be a bit stiff but, hey, when you get to the actual cleaning it more than does the job.
The Vax Blade 2 Max will last for 45 minutes off a three-hour charge, though that quickly zaps down to half that when using the more power-intensive boost mode. There’s also a separate setting for heading into dark corners or under furniture, which switches on a torch and speeds up the vacuum’s rotations to suck in dust just out of reach.
You won’t find the design flair or premium-grade materials of Dyson’s offerings, but for the price this is still one of the strongest arguments for cordless vacuuming out there.
Vax ONEPWR Cordless Hand Vac
A superb and powerful handheld vacuum cleaner that’s brilliant for those small jobs
Sometimes, it even feels like too much hassle to walk to the hall cupboard to grab the cordless vacuum cleaner, which is where the Vax ONEPWR Cordless Hand Vac comes in. A throwback to the Dustbuster days of vacuum cleaners, this vacuum is small and easy to store where you need it, ready to go for those smaller jobs, such as cleaning up in the kitchen after cooking.
Using the same battery system as Vax’s other ONEPWR range, you can swap battery packs in and out between the other tools. Using the same batteries tells you something else important about this product: it’s extremely powerful. In fact, in our tests, this cordless vacuum cleaner was just about as powerful as a regular vacuum cleaner, sucking up all of our test dirt with ease.
Vax doesn’t sell this model with a battery, so it’s comparatively cheap. However, this does mean that it’s best paired with another product in the Vax range so that you’re getting the best value and have devices to swap batteries between. That’s not a problem, as the ONEPWR range is excellent, with everything from traditional stick cordless vacuums, to a carpet cleaner and a hard floor cleaner.
If you need a vacuum cleaner that’s ready to go when you need it, then the Vax ONEPWR Cordless Hand Vac is an excellent choice and comes highly recommended.

Last year’s Vax Blade 2 Max was a surprisingly powerful cordless vacuum cleaner pretty much capable of managing your entire home. This year, the company is back with a refined, better model, the Vax ONEPWR Blade 4 Max. Effectively the same cleaner as last year, with the same powerful cleaning option, this year’s model now has a removable battery and is part of the ONEPWR family.
Not only does this mean that you can add extra batteries into the mix to extend battery life, letting you go beyond the maximum 45 minutes that the included battery provides, but you can swap batteries between other products in the range. This not only gives you more flexibility but means that the ONEPWR Blade 4 is now capable of handling even large homes if you buy extra batteries.
The main stick comes with a motorised brush head that’s great for multiple surfaces and has a handy light to highlight any dirt. You also get a crevice tool and brush in the box, but that’s it: you have to pay more for the additional tools accessory, although Vax offers a free accessory kit if you buy direct.
Operation of the vacuum is easy, with a button to turn the cleaner on – there’s no pistol grip that requires continuous pressure here. Although the wall mount doesn’t charge, that’s not an issue here, as you can remove the battery and drop it onto the charging dock.
Well-priced and with powerful cleaning, you have to spend a chunk more to get more powerful suction and a greater range of tools.
