What is good in Amarey A900 robotic vacuum cleaner?

A few features that the Amarey comes with which makes it easier to use include:

  • Remote control: Many times, when a robot vacuum has an app, it rarely has a physical remote control as well. With Amarey that wasn’t the case and it was nice to see the remote control included. A physical remote can be handy if you don’t always have your phone handy or don’t want the hassle of setting up wifi.
  • Wifi-connectivity: Being able to control this vacuum from your smartphone or from your voice is a nice addition and makes it easier to play with custom settings on your vacuum.
  • Intelligent suction: The Amarey A900 offers intelligent suction, which basically means that it can automatically adjust suction, based on the floor type that it’s currently cleaning. This helps to conserve battery when you don’t need it and have that extra boost when you do (like for carpeted floors).
  • Voice control: When the wifi is setup and connected, the Amarey robot vacuum can also be controlled via Amazon Alexa (when paired with an Alexa device like Amazon Echo or Amazon Dot.)
  • Long run time: The Amarey robot vacuum has a 100-minute run time
  • Scheduled cleanings: Scheduled cleaning is another feature of convenience. You can use the app on your smartphone or the remote control to schedule cleanings in the future so that the robot will run only when you want it to.

Build

The A900 is constructed from black ABS plastic, with a smooth front and a textured back edge. The texturing on the back is designed for an easy grip, which allows you to easily remove the dust bin. On top of the A900, you’ll find a fisheye lens, which allows the vacuum to see its environment. We’ll talk more about that in a bit. You’ll also find a blue soft touch power button, and a WPS connection button for getting your A900 online. We’ll also touch on the online features later.

Size & Dimensions

The Amarey robot vacuum is similarly sized to most other robot vacuums on the market. It’s round body has a a diameter of 12.7″ and is 2.7″ tall. This model weighs about 5.7 pounds.

  • Diameter: 12.7″
  • Height: 2.7″
  • Weight: 5.7 lbs.

These specs make it lighter and slightly smaller all around compared to Roomba robot vacuums.

Design

ike most robotic vacuums, the Amarey A900 is a pancake-shaped device. It measures 12.7 inches in diameter, and it’s 2.9 inches tall. When the dust collection bin is empty, it weighs only 5.7 pounds, not counting the charging dock.

Brushes

Two wide brushes protrude from underneath the vacuum. They sweep debris under the A900, collecting it where it can easily be sucked into the bin. As a result, it actually cleans an area wider than its actual width. This way, as it runs back and forth across your floor, there’s plenty of overlap.

Charging base

Inside the box, there’s also a charging case, as well as a rubberized magnetic barrier strip. The barrier strip is not strictly necessary. You can set a designated cleaning area via the app. However, it’s useful if you’re moving your vacuum from place to place. The charging base is relatively compact. It sits snugly against your wall, and you don’t need to worry about kicking it by mistake. There’s an LED on top of the charger, and another in the A900’s power button. These LEDs will illuminate when the battery is charging, and change color when it’s fully charged.

App

the A900 is controlled by an app. The app is fairly simple to connect to the robot vacuum. Connect the robot to your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi by pressing the power button for about five seconds until the robot beeps. On the app click confirm, and enter the Wi-Fi password, install the software and configure your options in the app.

You can configure three modes of suction power (who ever uses low suction?), and Auto, Spot, Edge, or Auto docking modes. Auto docking sends the robot back to the charging station.

Amarey A900 robotic vacuum cleaner cleaning performance review

To evaluate cleaning performance, we put each vacuum through a series of cleaning tests, scoring it on a three different floor type (hardwoods, low pile carpet, and high pile carpet) and against a variety of debris size and densities (cereal, kitty litter, rice, and sugar).

The cleaning performance of the Amarey A900 was good overall, but did have a few weak points.

  • Overall 86%
  • Hardwood 98%
  • Low Carpet 81%
  • High Carpet 78%
Amarey A900 robot vacuum cleaning performance

As a general note for cleaning performance, the Amarey A900’s main weakness was cleaning fine debris (like sugar) from carpeted floors (high pile or low pile).

Hardwood Cleaning

The Amarey A900 cleaning performance on hardwoods was basically flawless. As you can see below, the A900 breezed through all of the varies debris and left a clean floor at the end. No complaints here.

The Amarey collected approx. 98% of all debris from the hardwoods flooring.

High Pile Carpet Cleaning

On high pile carpet, the performance showed a little bit of a dip from low pile carpet, but again, it was mainly just sugar where it struggled. It captured basically all of the cereal, kitty litter and rice, and left approx 22% of debris in the carpet.

Amarey A900 robot vacuum cleaning high pile carpet

The Amarey collected approx. 78% of all debris from the high pile carpet.

Low Pile Carpet Cleaning

On low pile carpet, the performance was still not bad. It captured basically all of the larger debris and only really struggled with the fine sugar debris, where it left 19% of the total debris in the carpet (but it was mostly sugar).

Amarey A900 robot vacuum cleaning low pile carpet

The Amarey collected approx. 81% of all debris from the low pile carpet.

Amarey A900 robotic vacuum cleaner customer review

One of the BEST!

So I purchased 2 of these units, because of the HIGH reviews and I could get TWO of these for less than the price of the new Roomba. Anyway, one of them has been kick butt and taking names…it has far exceeded my expectations of how good it would vacuum our carpet (2 carpets being deep carpeting). One unit began acting “wonky” in the past week (I’ve owned them now for almost 2 weeks). It started traveling an weird angles, missing sections, spinning in circles, and when I told it to return home, it seemed lost. NOTHING like the other unit, so that told me that something is up with this one. Anyway, the company without hesitation is sending me a replacement unit within 2 days, with a prepaid label to return this one once I get it. So this robot vacuum from Amarel is simply amazing when taking in customer service.

The APP to control it does it’s job…I’m still learning how to use everything in it. I still haven’t been able to figure out controlling it with Alexa yet, although it says it’s compatible. If I had a third level of carpeted floor in my house, I would by a third one. The MAX suction setting, while it does drain the battery quicker, REALLY does an awesome job. And we have two dogs.
