Design

The Beelink BT4 has compact dimensions of 10.60 x 10.60 x 1.77 cm and weighs 250 grams, so it will not take up much space on the desktop. In addition, it can be easily placed behind the monitor, using the special mount that comes with the kit.

Hardware

Mini-PC Beelink BT4 works on the basis of a rather old single-chip system (System-on-a-Chip, SoC) Intel Atom X5-Z8500 with a quad-core processor capable of achieving a speed of 2.24Ghz and which has a built-in graphics accelerator Intel HD Graphics 600. RAM is soldered to the board and is 4 GB LPDDR3, working in a dual-channel, and for file storage there are 64 GB, which can be expanded only with the help of a microSD card reader. The Windows 10 operating system is installed. Mini-PC is absolutely silent – passive fanless cooling is used.

Ports

This model supports dual-band WiFi with internal antenna and Bluetooth 4.0. The connectors are located on the sides of the case, including a pair of USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, a gigabit LAN connector, a 3.5 mm audio jack and HDMI 1.4 and DisplayPort video outputs. Thanks to two video outputs, it is possible to simultaneously display the image on two monitors – in 4K over HDMI and in 2K over DisplayPort.

Processor and graphics card

As we wrote earlier, Beelink BT4 Mini PC runs on Windows 10 Home, the system is activated. Mini PC is equipped with a Intel Atom® x5-Z8500 Cherry Trail processor (14 nm, 4 core, @ 1.44 GHz – 2.24 GHz, 2 MB cache) and Intel® HD Graphics Gen8 GPU (up to 600 MHz, 1x HDMI 1.4 3840×2160@30Hz, and VGA). HWiNFO64 detects Intel Pentium Silver J5005 processor and its HD Graphics Gen8 GPU correctly. 

Video review

Video playback by Kodi 18.5 runs often not smooth. A liquidity problem for large files with 10-bit HEVC. The following table of video samples tested.

Netflix only up to 720p, but if you use the Netflix app available from the Microsoft Store, Netflix plays video in Full HD.

We also tested playback via Youtube on three browsers: Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explore. First of all, interestingly streaming video on YouTube by Chrome does not work smoothly despite as you can see the processor was not fully used. Streaming video on YouTube by Internet Explorer and Firefox runs properly without delay. On three browsers, the 1080p video was played without any problems. However, on the Chrome browser, each 4K 2160p video was not played smoothly (big problems with loading).
