The Good:
– Setup was simple as with all iRobot products
– Connected to wireless network in minutes and integrated with Amazon Echo right away
– Packaging is well made and what you would expect from a higher cost product
– First mopping job is running as I write this review and seems to be doing a reasonable job
– It did about 1/3 of the space in about an hour. It is back on the dock charging since it was only about 50% charged upon arrival.
– Floors look fresh and the included bottle of iRobot brand wet cleaning solution smells nice
– Major, major upgrade from Braava 380t is the auto dock and recharging capability – worth the price of admission for previous Braava 380t owners!
– It is my understanding it will learn our floor layout over time and we can selectively identify which rooms for it to go clean. I’m really looking forward to this since we often do not use our Braava 380t in every room but just the ones that need some extra cleaning – kitchen especially!
The Bad:
– Not thrilled about the high cost of wet and dry mop disposable pads (roughly a dollar USD per)
– Limited approved cleaning solution options. iRobot’s support site directs you to use iRobot brand cleaning solution only and it will void the warranty if you do not!
– There is a support article for the Braava 300 series that indicates the use of Bona Hardwood Floor Cleaner, Clorox Ready Mop and water are the only other non-iRobot pre-approved cleaning solutions. The Braava m-series documentation does not. It says only to use the iRobot brand cleaning solution.
– Navigation back to the dock needs improvement. It does not take into consideration the area it has already mopped. Not as big a deal for dry mopping or vacuuming but when mopping it can leave streaks. I am hoping iRobot can adjust the logic to do a trim pass or similar along the exterior of the space to reduce the amount of streaking that can happen.

Roborock App is much improved over the Mi Home app. The Mi Home app is designed around home automation and has a lot of structure that isn’t relevant to using the vacuum that just gets in the way. The Roborock app is focused on vacuum operation and setup alone leading to much less lag, substantially better maps, and an overall more responsive and intuitive UI. One killer feature of the S6 is the ability to direct the robot to clean a specific room rather than requiring you to manually draw a cleanup zone as you would with the S5. This means I can have the robot clean my carpet and entry hallway every day, but leave the rest of the floor on an every other day schedule.
Multi-Level/Floor Support
The S5 can be moved to another floor, but all no-go zones are erased from the prior floor, which is annoying. The S6 supports the saving of 3 maps. The best improvement on this functionaly is that the S6 can be moved to another floor and when returned to the base station the previous map and no-go zones are restored. This works out great for me as I don’t have any no-go zones on my second floor.
Noise Levels
The S6 is substantially quieter on carpet, noticeably quieter on hard floors. When running the S5 on balanced you have to raise your voice while the robot is running. The S6 doesn’t require any changes in normal conversation. A good portion of the decreased noise seems to be in the drive wheels rather than the turbine, it just moves around more quietly. If I had only an S5 I wouldn’t have called it loud, but I didn’t really want to have it running while I was on the same floor. The S6 is just quiet enough it’s not an annoyance to have running near you.
Navigation
S6 seems to find its dock and identify the surroundings slightly quicker than the S5. The same left side first mapping process is used to create the boundaries of the map. My S5 tended to wedge itself under a dresser at least 75% of the time I ran it upstairs. The S6 seems to have a better feel as to what it is able to clear and hasn’t gotten stuck once yet.
Cleanup Time
On the main floor the S5 took an average of about 72 minutes to clean 63 sq m while the S6 was able to do the same area in 68 mins which is a 5% improvement in cleaning time. It seems like zoned cleanup increases the time slightly as the robot is following the defined zone lines, which likely increases the cleaning time.
Overall I think the S6 is a good improvement over the already great S5, but it could be better with improved multi-floor no-go functionality.

I picked this items with no reviews yet. What appealed to me was that it had a clean water tank, a dirty water tank, a rotating brush for cleaning and a squeegee to help clean up water. It’s currently on its maiden voyage. After starting out a little less than expected and clean water tank error, that I didn’t have the squeegee on right. After that, it’s been LOVE!!! My laminate flooring has hardly any water left behind it. I’ll be trying it out o my tile floors next, which aren’t completely flat. And with 4 little pups in the house (they are non-shedding so I can’t comment on pet hair) and the people who wear shoes in and out, I’m hopeful it’ll be a help in between mopping.

This morning while I walked my dog (short-hair collie/lab mix, sheds), I turned my ILIFE v8s on. When I returned 40 minutes later, it was still working, but I paused it to empty the bin. The bin was full of dog hair. I used a double wooden chopstick (did not break them apart) to clear the debris from the bin. Simple to do! Plugged the bin back in, hit the pause/go button, and it took off to finish the work.
I am so pleased with everything about this unit. It has a blower sound, but not as loud as my Dyson Pet vacuum cleaner. My dog is not spooked by it at all, he has stood near it, and it touched his leg and it turned and went around him.
Just to have this unit to keep up with the dog hair is well worth it. I’ve not tried the mopping feature yet, will do so this weekend, perhaps.
This is my first robot vacuum. The price was very reasonable, especially since it has the mopping feature along with vacuum. I have a few area rugs over hardwood and it does both surfaces very well. The brushes were totally clean even after picking up so much dog hair which tells me that the suction is very good.
