CyberpowerPC Wyvern gaming PC Fortnite review 2020

A carefully balanced and considered, but very capable, build

CPU: Intel i5-9400H / AMD Ryzen 5 | Graphics: AMD RX 570 or 580 – Nvidia GTX 1650 – RTX 2060 | RAM: 8-16GB DDR4 | Storage: up to 240GB SSD + 1TB HDD

CybperpowerPC’s machines often demonstrate how you can squeeze excellent performance and value if you apply some consideration and deliberation to a build; and the Wyvern is no exception.

Sticking to its guns of offering a solid mid-range graphics cards (either an RX 570/580 or 1650/1660/2060 Nvidia card) machine with a mid-range CPU – a Ryzen 5 or an I5-9400F are your options – these machines are great options for those needing to keep it comfortably below the four-figure mark but want something that’ll crunch through any games thrown at a home machine – though perhaps not at the most extreme levels or settings. Sticking to a certain couple of CPU and storage options might seem like an overt limitation on configuration options, but it’s actually a very smart way to ensure the cost stays down but the value remains incredibly solid.  And given the nature of the CPU, we’d almost certainly recommend going for the extra RAM to get to the 16GB as you might as well make up for the compromises where possible.

If you’re looking for a very competent and capable machine that offers a great value entry point to ray-tracing, then this is it. Plus, you’ll be able to tinker with it in time, if the CPU, for example, raises a slight eyebrow now. Plus, ‘Wyvern’ is a very cool name isn’t it.

If you’re on a budget, you can’t go wrong with this PC
Size Name: AMD Ryzen 5, 16GB RAM, SSDColour Name: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Super 6GB

This PC is great value for money. For similar spec, including the i5 processor and the 1060 6GB graphics card, all the custom PC sites I tried would come to £800-900. If you only have a 1080p 60hz monitor setup like me, then this PC is perfect for you.

It runs all modern games well, including Apex Legends, PUBG and Total War:Warhammer 2 at 60fps. I’ve got the 8GB RAM version and so far it’s doing me just fine, however I personally use a lot of RAM so I am considering upgrading to 16GB. That is going to cost me £52, so it is well worth it to buy the 16GB version here if you can.

This is a great value gaming PC. Buy it.
Amazing runs games flawlessly!
Size Name: Intel i5-9400F, 8GB RAM, HDDColour Name: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 6GB

I bought this as a first time pc as I wanted one and my ps4 was old and I wanted to run games at a higher fps. With the 1060 you can be confident games will play extremely well and paired with the core i5 9400f you can stream and multitask really well. I ran fortnite on epic at 60fps. And the walking dead the final season obviously ran extremely well same with csgo and other titles. And for the price you can’t go wrong. If you are looking for a pc to game really well and can do pretty much everything else then this is the pc for you. The 8gb stick of ram is plenty for gaming but if you want 16gb you can put in another stick. The RGB lighting has 5 colours and is controlled easily with a remote. The case is the beautiful coolermaster lite 5. The only downside is there is only 2 3.0 ports on the front which can be annoying if you need to plug in a Mic with that port. My overall thought are really positive because this pc exceeded my expectations.

What are the System Requirements for Fortnite games?

If your PC is a bit older or slow to perform, here are the bare-minimum requirements needed to play Fortnite according to the official Epic Games site:

Operating System: Windows 7/8/10 64-bit
Processor Core: i3 2.4 Ghz
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Video Card: Intel HD 4000

What are the Fortnite Recommended Requirements?

While minimum requirements will get the game running, you’re going to find it hard to keep up with other players who play on higher settings.

If you’re aiming for an edge on the competition, you’ll need to match the official recommended requirements to make winning that much easier:

Operating System: Windows 7/8/10 64-bit
Processor Core: i5 2.8 Ghz
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Video Card: Nvidia GTX 660 or AMD Radeon HD 7870 equivalent DX11 GPU
Video Memory: 2 GB VRAM

System Requirements: Fortnite for Mac

According to the official Epic Games site, you’ll also need a Mac that supports Metal API. You can always check if your Mac supports Metal API here.

Assuming you have a Mac that can support Fortnite, here are the minimum requirements to play:

Operating System: macOS Sierra
Processor Core: i3 2.4 Ghz
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Video Card: Intel HD 4000

If you’re experiencing consistent issues gaming on your Mac, there are some “quick fixes” that might solve the issue:

Make sure your graphical settings are set to Low for maximum performance.

This can be done at any time in the pre-game menu. Because Fortnite isn’t the most demanding game, you won’t sacrifice too much visual quality.

Another “quick fix” is to simply close every other app and service running on your Mac besides Fortnite. This may seem obvious, but if you forgot to close an app or two and are experiencing issues, this could significantly speed up the game.

However, if you’re still running into issues, you can always stream Fortnite straight through Vortex, multi-platform cloud gaming service. There are no installations, no downloads, and no updating. You’ll stream Fortnite online directly from the powerful servers. So, you’ll never have to worry about running into any of Fortnite specs issues.

There is also a third option. If you’re thinking of making a switch from Mac to PC, then you should keep reading to view our list of the best gaming PCs around.

Gaming PC Buyer’s Guide

What works for one gamer may not work for another. That’s the golden rule of choosing the best gaming PC as you have to think about what types of games you play first. After that, consider how much you have to spend and then it’s time to take a long, hard look at the…

Tech Specs

There are a lot of components under the hood of a desktop PC that make it go. Thankfully, the Fortnite system requirements are low as are the majority of Steam games and many other popular online titles. That said, if you want to play AAA titles at a high framerate, you are going to need some serious hardware under the hood.

  • The CPU – Some parts of your PC are easy to upgrade regardless of your experience. The processor isn’t one of them, so it pays to choose right the first time around. With desktop gaming rigs, the newer the chip and higher the series the better. Pay close attention to the generation of Intel chips along with the speed if you truly want the best.
  • Graphics Cards – While you can swap out a graphics card, it’s the biggest selling point for most gaming PCs. As there are dozens of options from NVIDIA and AMD, this is an area where the budget comes into play along with system requirements. If you want to run games at their highest settings, go big or go home…
  • RAM & Storage – Memory and storage are both important for obvious reasons, but RAM is affordable to upgrade so don’t fret if you’re system has 8GB, and you want to double that up. The opposite goes for storage however unless you have a disdain for solid-state drives. You can pick up large HDDs for cheap, but a big solid-stat drive can still raise the cost of your build considerably.
  • Ports – Simply put, you can never have enough ports. All of our picks have plenty of them, but you’ll want to pay attention to their location and how many are an older standard when dealing with USB. HDMI and DisplayPort access is vital as well, so don’t be fooled by a slick shell if the ports aren’t located where you need them.

Alternative of CyberpowerPC Wyvern gaming PC for Fortnite games

CyberpowerPC Gamer Xtreme

The best budget gaming PC right now

CPU: Intel Core i5 9400F | GPU: Nvidia GTX 1660 6GB | RAM: 8GB DDR4-2400 | Storage: 1TB HDD 7200RPM + 128GB SSD

This offers great bang for buck value. The Cyberpower Gamer Xtreme – housing an Intel Core i5 9400F and Nvidia’s GTX 1660 – is a great PC to rock the current generation of games and do it all for well under the four-figure mark.

Even beyond that and branching into the increasingly large world of VR, this machine will get you there on a shoestring: it’s VR-ready right out of the box (just) and will be easy to upgrade when newer, more fancy headsets become more available.

The Xtreme is also great for anyone looking for a PC to match the capabilities of current-gen consoles, something that will bridge the gap between the PS4 and Xbox One era of games and the next console generation. And the Gamer Xtreme is also modular and upgradeable enough to allow you to quickly adapt when specs for the next generation are finally, properly announced. On that note, we’d probably aim to get another 8GB of RAM into this upgrade-friendly rig as soon as you can, though.

Best PC for Fortnite – High-End

If your budget is one of the higher variety, you’re in for a real treat. The ASUS ROG STrix GL12CM is a beast of a machine – and at a price point of £1800 / $2000, it probably should be.

Packed with the latest i7-8700K processor, 16GB DDR4 RAM, a GeForce 1080 graphics card, a 256GB SSD, 1TB hard drive and a very sleek and shiny case with RBG light strips akin to the masks of Battlestar Galactica’s Cylons.

This system will run pretty much everything and anything you throw at it, through brute force if not through finesse, and it’s fully upgradable on top of all that, so if you find yourself (in, say, five years time) needing to upgrade one or more parts, you can absolutely do that.

To put it in no uncertain terms – this is a very expensive machine, but it will serve you well for many a year to come. It’ll also run Fortnite just about as smooth as it could possibly be run.

Best PC for Fortnite – Laptop

best_PC_for_fortnite___laptop

Of course, gaming desktop PCs aren’t for everyone. If you find yourself travelling often – whether it be for work, family, or otherwise – and you don’t want your Fortnite game to slip for any reason, you may want to take a look into the world of gaming laptops.

While gaming laptops can be a little hit-or-miss depending on brands, builds and timing, the MSI 7RFX-880 is a powerhouse of a laptop, packed with an i7-770HQ, 8GB RAM, GeForce 1060, and a healthy amount of storage space split across a 128GB SSD and a 1TB hard drive. That’s more than enough to get you up and running with a perfectly smooth game of Fortnite and keep you going for a while to come.
