GOURMETmaxx Digital XXL hot air fryer review

… only received this item yesterday but already I feel like we are going to be good friends

I only received this item yesterday but already I feel like we are going to be good friends.

Appearance: it’s very sleek, surprisingly light for its size. It’s worth knowing in advance, that when you open the fryer, there is only a base with a basket on. Not an enclosed metal inner. I thought, “oh boy food is going to splatter around the carcass”. It would have been nice to have been told in the description, that you can purchase a pan to put inside for that purpose. It is being called a bread baking basket (Z 01217). Very useful for bread, cakes and au grating recipes etc. A roasting rail (Z 05892) is ideal for frying, roasting and steaming fish, meat and vegetables. Plus a roasting rack, Including 3 x skewers ( Z 01248) for various other cooking, is available to purchase. I have emailed the seller with the view to purchasing these said items. I am not new to cooking, using air fryers, I wouldn’t go back to using a deep fat fryer ever again.

The air fryer really comes in to its own when you cook greasy items like sausages, beefburgers, roast potatoes and of course chips. All grease collects under the basket and doesn’t stay on the food. Personally, I wouldn’t bother doing fresh chips because frozen ones are perfect for the job and suit the air fryer way of cooking perfectly, without the clonk. I do love roast potatoes, done in the air fryer. I cut the potatoes into whatever size you want, pop them in a bowl and toss them in about 1 tablespoon of oil then airfry them for about 35 mins or less (I’ve yet to try them in this cooker). Ready frozen Yorkshire puddings take about 3 mins to do from frozen to crispy , and I make stuffing in a bowl, cover it with foil, then cook it on high for about 15-20 mins.

Air fryers are perfect for reheating pasties and pies etc, they come out in about 10 mins and look and taste like you have just baked them. Garlic bread takes only minutes from frozen and does to perfection. Anyway , enough of the airfryer tips, I really know already, that I am going to enjoy this particular air fryer. It is huge compared to others (what will hold a lot, will hold a little). I look forward to writing another review in a few weeks, when I’ve had time to practice cooking with it. I wish that air cookers had been invented when my children were teenagers, coming in at different times to dinner, drying up in the oven, trying to keep warm for the last one home. With the air cooker it’s just as easy as placing items in and pressing the timer. Hey presto, dinner is done while your teenager has chance to sit and tell you about their day.

As for this seller, I received my cooker in three days from ordering and it came from Germany to the UK at that.If you can imagine how a microwave transformed your life, well with the air cooker, there’s no more soggy pastry if you reheat a pie and one of my favourites is to stab a potato/potatoes and drop them straight into the air cooker and cook for about an hour for the most tasty crispy baked potato ever. Some people precook the potatoes in the microwave then go on to finish them off in the air fryer. It’s a matter of choice, either way they taste great. Have fun with your new airfryer and happy cooking to all.
