Why do Elevate vacuums use filtration bags instead of dirt cups?
We believe in helping you create a clean and healthy home, by providing products with proven filtration methods. Unlike traditional bagless vacuums with dirt cups, the Elevate offers an entirely fresh filter each time you change the filtration bag. You simply snap in a new filtration bag and you are ready to clean! No more time wasted on cleaning and drying your filters or those dirty puffs of dust each time you empty your vacuum. In addition, the Oreck SaniSeal® System automatically closes each filtration bag upon disposal, helping to seal in dirt, debris and any allergens from your clean.
Why does Elevate™ not have tools on board?
On average, people only use tools on their vacuum about 1-2 times a month. Additional tools can add over 5lbs of weight to a vacuum, which is substantial when doing routine floor cleanings & going up & down stairs. At Oreck®, we are focused on giving you the most effective clean, with products that are easy to use and exceptionally lightweight. As a result, we offer a separate, specialized handheld device; allowing you to customize your cleaning needs based on the task required.Purchasing both the Elevate vacuum and Ultimate Handheld together ensures all your cleaning needs are covered.Oreck’s Elevate vacuums weigh less than 10lbs and the Ultimate Handheld weighs less than 5lbs.
How often do I have to replace the filtration bags?
Oreck has extra-large filtration bags, which hold up to 4x the capacity of a typical bagless dirt cup. The time between filtration bag changes depends on the volume of debris you are cleaning (pet hair, cereal, etc.).On average, most people change their upright vacuum filtration bag approximately every 3 months.
What is a Service Tune-up?
A service tune-up entails a 9-point inspection and thorough clean to give your vacuum a fresh start. Tune-ups are not mandatory, but are recommended to ensure your vacuum is always working at its optimum.Your Elevate vacuum will come with a set number of tune-ups depending on the model you purchase and can be performed by our expert team of trained technicians, at our local Oreck stores (located nationwide).

5 stars if it still went under beds
I am replacing my 11 yr old Orek XL that served me well all these years. This new one is self propelled, which takes a little getting used to, it can easily take off on you if you aren’t holding tight. Other than that, it is very light, still sucks up dirt and hair well, the only drawback versus my old model is this new one does not lay flat and thus won’t go under low spaces. Too bad, as that was a handy feature for getting under beds and furniture, I can’t believe when designing a new product this is a feature you decide to eliminate!

Great vacuum cleaner!
This is my second Oreck vacuum cleaner. In general I have found the Oreck vacuum cleaners to do a very nice job of cleaning. One of the nicer features is the weight. The Oreck machines are lightweight and easy carry up and down our stairs. The swivel steering is a great new feature and makes vacuuming around furniture much easier. The HEPA filtration bags do an excellent job of keeping everything inside the vacuum and out of the room.

Not for area rugs
This vacuum has great suction but, it isn’t as light as I expected and is somewhat hard to maneuver. There is no place to put the cord in-between use…very odd for such an expensive vacuum. The most disappointing thing is it cannot be used on area rugs…it completely chews them up even on the lowest setting. I am now going to have to buy an additional vacuum to use on our area rugs. It may work good on carpet but, we have all wood, tile and area rugs. Paying more doesn’t necessarily equal the best.

Oreck vetran is pleased so far
This is my second Oreck. My first one lasted almost twenty years. We’ll see if this one lives up to that standard. My first impressions are good. The machine is still fairly light—less than ten pounds—and has exceptional suction (though I see that some reviewers disagree). The roller is firm, which might be too rigorous on some delicate rugs; nevertheless, I’ve used it on my 25-year old Oriental rug and did fine.
The vacuum is so strong that it seems to propel itself. The thirty foot cord is handy, so that I can reach much of my relatively small house without having to change electric plugs frequently. Some object to the lack of a retractable feature, but I have to admit that those seldom worked for me—there was always a foot or two that never went in; so the fact that I have to rewind the cord by hand is a plus for me and something I’m used to. I also like (new to this model) the handle halfway down the back, making the vacuum easy to carry upstairs.
The replacement bags are more outrageously expensive than ever, especially considering that they are not HEPA quality. But I do get a free service tune-up for a year.
The vacuum is assembled in America of both foreign and domestic parts. The original factory was about fifty miles from my home, but Hurricane Katrina took care of that. They moved to Tennessee but may have branched out by now.
There are no attachments for furniture or draperies. But all those did for me in earlier machines was weigh too much and fall off much of the time. This Oreck works well on wood floors and tile, as well as carpet. Buy a Dirt Devil for smaller stuff.
I’m having much of my house redone this summer, so there’s a lot of vacuuming going on lately. This new Oreck has really lived up to the challenge of dirt, grime, and tile grit. It’s a tough machine.
Thus my first impressions are really good. Yes, $450 (you gotta include shipping) is expensive. That’s up there in the Electrolux range. But I’ve been reading the recent reviews for Electrolux, and they’re not very good. (Sic transit . . .) Honestly, I’m not sure I could have sprung this much for a vacuum without the Vine program’s assistance. Yet now that I know how good this machine is (so far, at least), I might have done so anyway. All I can say to you, dear reader, is that this customer is very pleased indeed. Read the other reviewers and see whether this appliance is worth your hard-earned money. I’d vote yes.
