Pros & Cons – Vivitar smart security WiFi cam
Pro
-Feed quality is pretty decent, not amazing, but more than acceptable.
-Motion detection range was impressive despite some of the reviews I had read.
-Unit was lightweight and the sticky base was effective (mine was not magnetic).
Seems pretty good right?
Cons
-The unit refuses to accept any SD card I use, I’ve quadruple checked card requirements but it keeps tries to get me to subscribe to the Cloud recording.

Vivitar smart security WiFi cam customer review
Love these Cameras !!!!
I bought 2 of these Camera’s at Christmas time from Dollar General and they work great. Mine do not get hot and as long as u download the correct app it works great. Every now and then It will give me a retry error like it can not connect but it only let for a few minutes and then I’m able to watch the cameras again. I’m purchasing 2 more right now from Amazon. One for my horse barn will see how it works out there it will be inside but the barn isn’t heated. Hoping the will work in cold weather. Will let u know how it works out.
Quality at $30?
For $30 you get what you pay for. I have a fully wired surveillance system but I thought this may be fun to play around with. Positive #1 It is handy and easy to setup pretty much anywhere within approximately 8 +\- feet of a 110VAC receptacle. The camera utilizes a USB to Micro USB cord and 5v out wall power supply, like a cell phone, for power. Definitely not for someone looking to actually have any kind of quality video surveillance. Con #1 The video quality is pretty much terrible. Con #2 the night vision is useless and if you have it inside, better leave a lamp turned on or it will be in black and white. I had a window wide open and it still wouldn’t changed back to color, I had to turn lights on. It’s not great but if you need to keep an eye on something and don’t mind the terrible resolution, it may get you by. Pro #2 would be that you can listen and talk over the camera, BUT Con #3 if you have the listen and talk function both turned on simultaneously to possibly have a conversation with someone, you get a ton of audio feedback. Pro #3 is that the motion sensing is pretty good. The app is easy to use as well. I think I’ll give some of the WiFi receptacles a go next. Those are also controlled from the same app. In summary it’s probably worth $30. Just don’t expect much.
