Bissell EV675 robot vacuum cleaner for pet hair review
Design
Let’s start off with the design. Just like most robot vacuums, it has a circular design, which gives it some mobility when it comes to going through doorways and into tight spaces, nooks, and crannies. It’s also very lightweight, weighing just under 11 pounds.
As for the aesthetic, the BISSELL EV675 uses a simple and clean aesthetic that makes it look modern and slightly futuristic. But, the aesthetic doesn’t draw attention to itself, yet it still looks quite good.
Buttons
On the top of the vacuum, there is a big power button. This is the main power button, but there is also a small remote control that you can use to turn on the vacuum. Using this remote control, you’ll have access to basic features such as creating a custom schedule for the vacuum, as well as activating the cleaning mode you prefer.
Brushes
First off, you have the brush roll, which is a rotating brush roll that is on the bottom of the device, near the back. This is the main brush roll, and it is used to vacuum up the majority of the dirt, dust, and debris that the device will be vacuuming up. It is the longest brush and the most powerful one.
Then, after that, there are two brushes on the front of the vacuum, right on the sides, that spin. These brushes are much smaller than the main brush roll, and they aren’t as powerful, but they help to gather up and sweep the dirt that the main brush roll then gathers up, making it easier for the vacuum to do a more thorough and efficient cleaning.
Triple Action Cleaning System
With powerful suction, the efficiency also increases because of a triple-action system. Here, there is a rotating brushroll that works hand in hand with two side brushes. So, you get excellent performance on the floors as well as edges and corners.
Also, a special wall-follow feature enhances its cleaning ability.
Multi-Surface Cleaning – Bissell EV675 robot vacuum cleaner for pet hair
When looking for any good vacuum, it’s always good to seek a versatile one. You don’t need a vacuum for carpets, another one for tiles, and another for rugs. An all-in-one vacuum will not only save you the trouble of having to deal with multiple units but also reduce your expenses.
Thankfully, the Bissell EV675 Multi-Surface Robotic Vacuum takes care of a variety of flooring types. It is ideal for bare floors, low pile carpets, and area rugs. This is made possible by automatic height adjustment capability.
Programmable Cleaning
This is the main reason why a vacuum is labeled as a robot is that it needs minimal supervision to clean the house. Also, it rarely needs minimal intervention – apart from emptying the bin. Therefore, you should expect the same from the Bissell EV675 Robotic Vacuum.
With the included remote, you can issue instructions to the vacuum to clean the house. There are several instructions that you can give the robot:
- Auto Mode cleans the whole house
- Spiral Spot Mode concentrates on a specific spot until it is spotless
- Wall Mode picks up all dirt and debris along edges and corners
- Single Room Mode instructs the vacuum to concentrate on a single room
In fact, you can schedule cleaning to take place while you’re not at home. So, you don’t need to worry about your house while you’re away at work or on a trip.
Cliff Detection
One of the main concerns for prospective robot vacuum owners is if they have good sensors. With good sensors, the vacuum should be able to avoid obstacles and sudden falls that may cause damage. This way, you will get to utilize your investment for longer.
To prevent this, the Bissell EV675 has sensors that prevent it from falling off edges, stairs, and such areas.
Battery
The battery life is a pretty average length, for a robot vacuum. On a single charge, you can use this vacuum for a total of 100 minutes. That’s not a lot, but it’s not a short length of time, either. Instead, you should be able to clean most apartments – assuming they aren’t too large – in this amount of time. And, if you own a large home, you should be able to clean a single floor, during this period of time.
Self-Recharge
How would you feel if you left your vacuum cleaning the house but find it dead in the middle of the floor? Angry, that’s how I would feel. However, with the Bissell EV675 Multi-Surface Robotic vacuum, you don’t need to worry about that.
While its lithium-ion battery can last for up to 100 minutes, it has to be recharged at some point. Once the robot’s sensors detect low charge, it goes back to its docking station for a boost. So, it will always be ready for the next task.
Average intelligence
Like most of your old-school robot vacs, the EV675 has a random navigation system. It basically runs until it bumps into an object, backs up, then turns in a random direction and goes until it hits something else or the battery runs low. The preprogrammed cleaning pattern does help it to eventually reach most of the floor. But for rooms with lots of clutter or furniture, you’ll probably have missed areas.
The good thing? You can direct it to go to specific areas with the remote control. So if you come home to a patch of un-vacuumed floor, just point and click to tell the bot where to go. The remote is also useful for turning the vacuum away from unwanted areas.
Speaking of, there are no virtual walls, no-go strips, or any high-tech way of keeping the EV675 out of specific areas. You’ll need to go old-school and block off areas with closed doors, baby gates, pillows, etc. Or simply pick up charging cords, pet dishes, etc. while the vac is running.
It doesn’t map out your rooms or store mapping data. You can’t connect it to WiFi, so there aren’t any mobile app controls or voice commands through Alexa or Google Assistant. It does have great cliff sensors, however, so it shouldn’t take a tumble down stairs so long as you keep the cliff sensors clean.
The EV675 does have a simple scheduling feature from the remote. You can schedule cleaning times, just not days. So you can’t tell it to clean every other day and twice on Sunday. But you could set it to clean at 7:45 after you leave for work, and then come home to a clean floor.

Pros and Cons
This is a review for the BISSELL EV675 Robotic Vacuum Cleaner, 2503, Black.
The setup is very straight-forward and the vacuum comes preassembled. You should read the short manual that is included, because it’s really helpful for things like setting up the date/time and enabling and disabling the schedule. It also tells you what the light patterns and colors mean on the top power button. The manual also translates the beeps.
As far as features:
It mainly uses bump guided cleaning so your carpet will be cleaned in zig-zag patterns. A few times when it tried to return to its base it performed 360 turns which I assume is it scanning the area for an open path. It has no ability to store the map of the room which makes me wonder how it knows it’s truly done cleaning every part of the room. A few times I witnessed it cleaning the exact same area 4 or 5 times. I suspect that it simply zig-zags all over the room then when the battery is low, it returns to the base to charge and calls the room clean. If you need to, you can use the remote to assist in it finding the base station—which I needed to do twice.
It does have cliff sensors so it won’t fall down stairs. It has rotating side brushes that do a good job sweeping debris from wall edges and from corners.
It does not have a built-in memory for floor maps but it does store start times for a schedule.
Docking/Charging station – it usually can get back to the charging station but often it gets lost in the room and can’t make it back; now granted we have a very large living room so it might be that it has an unpublished floor size limit.
The dust bin is small and if you haven’t put your Bissell on a schedule you’ll need to empty it frequently. There is no built-in Wi-Fi. There is no smart app. There are no no-go lines.
As far as performance – It does a good job at cleaning; my carpet was pretty clean in the areas covered by the vacuum. I would say thought that this vacuum would be more effective in a smaller room, something closer to 20 x 20.
One of its successes is how quiet it is. You can barely hear it as it runs. In fact, this is the quietest robot vacuum I’ve used.
As far as support: I did have two issues with the vacuum. Once it stopped in the middle of the room and it did not move for 15min. I ended up having to cancel the clean and put it back on the dock manually. A couple other times it couldn’t make its way back to the dock. Though, the last may be related to how big our room is 100’ x 50’ with both dining-room and living-room furniture in it.
I called Bissell support, they were very kind and courteous and quick to conclude that it needed to be replaced. This is Bissell’s first foray into robot vacuums so I wasn’t surprised that they concluded they needed it back and would send me a replacement. I have no doubt that Bissell engineers will test it thoroughly to see if it’s a component failure.
In conclusion, despite my technical issues, this vacuum does what you expect it to; it cleans really well. I don’t like it’s lack of room mapping and the fact that it doesn’t have in-home wi-fi support and no smart phone app to control it.
Recommended with the reservations expressed above.
