Pros & Cons – XVIM 8ch 1080p security camera system outdoor with 1TB hard drive

Pros

1) It is clear 1080p, but in the settings you can pick from 720 – 1080 p, but it can goes to 2080 p too.

2) motion sensor and night vision (black and white not green).

3) cameras are easy to set up and it looks great.

4) enough HD space to record all day.

5) Will made, it is not plastic like other cameras, it is metal construction and it has some weights to it. Which I like.

Cons

1) even though it is easy to setup, the instructions in the software is some time confusing. You have to spend some time to play with the settings.

2) You have to have at lest 3 electric open plugs for this device. One for the monitor, one for the cameras, and one for the motherboard inside. So get ready 3 open plug spot or extension cord.

3) Once it is on you can’t turn it off, there is no off button. Not sure if this is good or bad.

Weatherproof and both indoor-outdoor

The conditions this surveillance system is equipped for include both indoor and outdoor settings. In addition, it also includes night vision options, so the system can record and monitor at any time of the day. Finally, the system is IP66 waterproof and this further expands the types of conditions it can work in.

For those interested in a system that can work in different types of environments, the XVIM set up has some strengths.

Easy installing

You mount the cameras at where you want the field of view to cover the areas that you want. Then run the cables from the cameras to the receiver. Put the receiver at the place where you don’t want the thief to see so they don’t destroy it upon entering your property. Then plug in the power. Turn it on and follow the instruction to set up your remote view etc

Image quality

The new cam system is 1080p with a 2.0 MP CMOS censor, i can really see the difference between this and my old 720p camera with 0.3MP CMOS censor. Before i couldn’t really zoom in on a person and see the facial details, but with the new cameras, the person face details are pretty clear. I can zoom in on the license plate of my cars parking in front and see the license number clearly. This was the main reason fort my upgrade. XVIM user interface is pretty friendly and easy to use.

Smart app and control via remote

This security system also offers remote viewing and monitoring via an app that can be used on either iOS or Android systems. This app can be activated in 3 steps which then allow for the user to wirelessly access the system.

If you are away from the home but still want to be able to view and monitor the security, this can be a useful feature to have that might make the system itself more appealing. Many users of home security systems feel that being able to keep track of the cameras and motion detection is a crucial element.

Video recording and play back

Another feature of this security camera system is that it provides the ability for 24/7 recording and monitoring. There’s also the possibility of multiple video output and live viewing on external televisions and monitors. Lastly, there is color accuracy for both day and night settings, which ties into the night vision feature mentioned earlier.

The primary benefit here for potential users is the variety of options when it comes to your security monitoring. Sometimes a limited range of monitoring choices can have a negative effect on the security setup and whether you choose to purchase it.

Storage

It has 1TB hard drive pre-installed,it’s ready to record, you can set up to auto, manual and motion detection recording, you can also remote playback and live view the video on smartphone.

Support

The final category of features to mention is the warranty and customer support. This product has a 1-year warranty with a 60 day replacement option and 30 day money-back guarantee. Tech support is also offered by the company for this system.

For those with a concern about strong customer service and technical help, this could be an important factor to consider in your decision for a security camera setup. Poor technical support or service can drastically affect the usability of a product such as this.

 Good quality Security camera system

Great Product. I like the qualify of this security camera system. It’s very clear. Easy setup, plug and play. No need open port on the router or using any type of domain to access from the web/smartphone. All in one system, came with pre installed 1 TB Hard drive. The capacity can record up to 1 month with 8 camera 1080P. The resolution was great with the 1080p.

Its a 4CH 1080P NVR can display the video clearly. 4 1080P 2MP wireless IP66 waterproof cameras with 24 LEDS automatic IR cut filter. The camera is indoors or outdoors at night, it can still be shot clearly. Up to 100 ft night vision. It come with remote view on PC and mobile devices with audio supportive, motion detection and email alerts, setup the NVR by mouse or the remote control, IP66 weatherproof cameras. The IP pro app on the iPhone very user friendly.

I like the user interface was very simple and clean. I also found the signal repeater was a great function. Each camera can act as repeater and pass the signal back to the NVR. This way you don’t need to put your NVR at the center of the all camera. I also see there was audio icon on each camera screen. This security camera come with motion sensor alert. Best part it’s wireless so no more installation of long cable.

The motion detection can be set in the system to record when there is an object moving in the recording area, and immediately send a video screenshot to you by email. You can also customize the detect area and sensitivity to reduce false alerts. Overall, I am pretty happy with this security camera system, it’s very simple and easy to use, the quality is good and it’s affordable and I recommend it.

Best alternate of XVIM 8ch 1080p security camera system outdoor with 1TB hard drive

1. Arlo Pro 2

Arlo Pro 2 Wireless Home Security Camera System with Siren | Rechargeable

The Arlo Pro 2 is the best camera system if you’re looking for a 100% wireless option. This system comes with a base station and two 1080P IP cameras. These security cameras can be completely wireless, as each camera comes with a rechargeable battery. The two-way audio also comes in handy for added security.

With the basic free plan, you can connect five cameras and see motion & sound-triggered events via the cloud for seven days. If you want to connect more cameras or record 24/7, you’ll need to upgrade to a subscription-based cloud plan. The Arlo Pro 2 works with Alexa, giving you the ability to access your indoor/outdoor security camera via voice command.

Things we like

  • Wireless option: No need to find power—just find a suitable location and mount with ease.
  • Intelligent alerts: With their upgraded smart plans, Arlo Pro 2 utilizes advanced AI detection giving it the ability to identify faces, cars, pets, and packages.
  • Two-way audio: Deter unwanted guests with the two-way audio feature.
  • Wide-angle: Arlo Pro 2 cameras have a wide-angle with 130 degrees of view, giving you more security coverage.

Things we don’t like

  • Night vision: Dark or black images are dull, and the range for night vision is only 25 feet—well below the 65-100 feet most brands offer.
  • Rechargeable battery: Batteries need to be recharged every 1-4 months, depending on use and conditions. Recharging is a hassle if you mount your indoor/outdoor security camera in hard-to-reach locations.
  • 24/7 Recording: Round-the-clock recording requires you power your camera through a cable. It’s not a real wireless system if it requires continuous video recording.
  • No video time stamp: You can access the time stamp via filename and metadata. Still, it’s less convenient when you want to see the date/time on your security footage.

2. Reolink 16CH 5MP PoE Security Camera System “RLK-16-410B8-5MP”

Reolink 16CH 5MP PoE Home Security Camera System

Based on our security camera systems review, we consider Reolink’s 16 Channel the top overall security camera system out there. This is in large part due to its high-quality resolution, network reliability, and large storage space. This security system comes with a Network Video Recorder (NVR) and eight 5.0 MP IP cameras.

Reolink’s Power over Ethernet (PoE) system requires only one Ethernet cable to run from the NVR to each camera, avoiding extra cabling for powering the cameras. The NVR has a massive 3TB hard drive pre-installed, with additional capacity for a total of 12TB of storage space.

Reolink’s 16 channel security camera system has all the features you’d expect from a high-quality system. These include local viewing (via monitor or HDTV), remote viewing (like a phone app or Internet browser), motion detection, continuous video recording, 100 ft night vision, and instant push notifications to your smartphone app.

Things we like

  • High resolution: At 5 Megapixels (2560 x 1920), the cameras provide crisp and clear footage that allows you to zoom in on faces or license plates.
  • Reliability: The wired infrastructure provides a reliable video feed. You don’t have to worry about lag or shutdowns from spotty Wi-Fi coverage. You can also run on just the local network (detached from WAN) if security is a concern for your business.
  • PoE System: Cut back on the amount of cabling with just one Ethernet cable that transmits video and powers your camera at the same time.
  • Affordability: This system is relatively affordable compared to similar security systems. There is also no subscription fee. You’re only responsible for the one-time purchase cost.

Things we don’t like

  • Sensitive motion sensor: Sensitive sensor sends nuisance push notifications to your smart devices.
  •  No two-way audio: With all the great features this system offers, capability for two-way talk could’ve bumped the rating for this product higher.
